Purpose: In spite of their importance, especially in social sciences and humanities, book reviews have hardly been considered from a scientometric perspective. This study aimed at investigating the contribution made by Middle Eastern countries in book reviews indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) during 2009-2018, emphasizing Iran.
Methodology: This applied study was a scientometric survey. At first, the needed data were extracted from WoS and imported into Excel. Then, isi.exe software was used for measuring scientometric indicators and determining co-authorship patterns.
Findings: Turkey, Iran and Emirate had the highest ranks in publishing book reviews, respectively. Regarding the share ratio of book reviews to all papers of a certain country, Cyprus and Jordan ranked first to second, respectively. The share of Middle Eastern countries in book reviews was very low in comparison with that of the World. These countries were more active in the subjects of history, religion, other social sciences and humanities, government and low, and area studies. Turkey, Iran and Emirate had the highest ranks in receiving citations for their book reviews, respectively. Most of book reviews were one-authored.
Conclusion: In conclusion, it can be said that in all,, the ranking of the Middle East countries, including among others, Iran in producing book reviews was not acceptable in the world as well as their received citation rates during the recent decade. Despite some differences, Islamic-Iranianmanuscriptshave special common out-of-text and within-text structures. These structures were followed by authors, scribes and transcription centers during centuries when transcription tradition was dominant throughout the Islamic world. In this article, these common features were considered in detail. Some manuscript folios preserved in National Library and Archive of the Islamic Republic of Iran (NLAI) were included for better clarification.

Introduction and Aim: Correct-writing is the common principle of writing in a language. Correct-writing, especially in scientific writings is a necessity and results in text fluency and perspicacity. This study aimed to critically overview the editing problems in the articles published in the current Knowledge and Information Science Persian Journals. Method: 89 articles published in the last published issue of 11 journals of the field were undergone content analysis and studied from editing viewpoint in three editing types (including that of technical, structural-lingual, and professional) in the summer and autumn of 2013. Findings: There are enormous deficiencies in this context and prevalence of “bad-writing custom” into the writings in each of the three editing types. Conclusion: Applicable education of Persian in academic studies, authors’ accuracy in writing and the deep care of reviewers and editors are needed for relatively removing these deficiencies.
